What is Co-operative freelance?

PLAN B Interactive is a group of marketing people who have quit the world of big business to bring small to mid-sized businesses top quality marketing and web design at an affordable rate. The way we do this is with something we call co-operative freelance.

After the behemoth web development companies collapsed in 2000 and 2001, thousands of talented web developers, creative directors, graphic artists and other marketing talents went freelance. By 2004 the best of these freelancers had risen and prospered on their own. Often they would be recruited to work as a team managed by the large company's ad agencies. The ad agencies would mark up the freelance rates and add in their project management costs. This would cause the price of these marketing ventures to be in the tens of thousands of dollars. Far out of the reach of small business.

PLAN B introduces a new marketing structure; freelancers who have collaborated on previous projects work directly under the creative director. You still deal with a single point of contact and receive a single bill but the price is at a freelance rate. You only pay for the talent that is utilized for the project. You get top quality talent already organized and managed yet you are only paying their "wholesale" cost. The freelancers win because they can do more diverse work with various small businesses and a minimal amount of project management and bureaucracy; and PLAN B wins because we grow and learn with every project.
